HISTORY

Aurora Baez was born in a small village named La Aldea located near the city of Guanajuato, Mexico.   As a child in this farming community Aurora experienced firsthand the critical need for school supplies.  Daily life was difficult and little money was left over to purchase pencils, notebooks, backpacks and other school supplies.  She recalls attending school with only one pencil, which she sharpened every day with a dull blade, and having only a couple sheets of paper per week.  It was during her school years that Aurora made a promise to one day help underprivileged children by providing them with the essential school supplies.

In the fall of 2009, Aurora revisited the rural schools of her youth in La Aldea and confirmed that the need for school supplies was still ever present.  She felt it in her heart that now was the time to find a way to help underprivileged children not only in her childhood town, but also in the surrounding communities of Los Angeles County, California.

The Promise that Aurora has been carrying in heart has now become a reality.  On
February 23, 2010, Aurora’s Promise, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was formed, and its mission is the commitment to improving the quality of education for underprivileged, school-aged children by providing them with school supplies, backpacks, and school uniforms.
